Our family had the opportunity to review two of the best craft kits for kids and I’m so excited to share them with you! It’s no secret that if you you know me, I’m a crafty gal. I love creating just about anything, from food to art! My kids seem to have inherited that quality as well so it was a small holiday when the Knit’s Cool and Text Cool sets arrived on our doorstep!
We opened the Text Cool kit and got to work designing new bracelets. It was simple to get things set up and the kids started designing almost immediately! There are a wide variety of colors and designs to choose from and my son(age 9) and two daughters(ages 4 & 8) were all pleased with the choices.
Next, everyone decided on names or fun phrases to add to their bracelets. This was an easy step everyone could complete on their own and I loved it was a fun way to sneak a little spelling practice, too!
My children spent over an hour creating bracelets and had ideas to use them for school spirit days, as part of a birthday gift, something to fun to send in the mail to a cousin, or for themselves! I appreciated that they could work independently, express creativity, and there was no mess to clean up afterwards!
The Knit’s Cool set offered us the ability to create 3 different projects with the enclosed materials and you could always purchase additional yarn and keep knitting indefinitely! I’ll admit, I’m not a knitter so I was a little apprehensive about this activity. However, the easy instructions and free online videos helped tremendously!
This set is an awesome introduction to knitting and my 8 year old daughter picked up the process quicker than me! Her first project was making a headband for her favorite doll and she was so proud of herself afterwards. Next, she set right to work on creating an infinity scarf after practicing alongside the video a couple times. Because there weren’t any sharp needles involved, I could let her work alone, which was perfect for when I needed to start dinner prep.
Creative projects that also build confidence and independence can be an excellent opportunity for kids of any age. The fact that 3 of my kids were interested in these and were occupied for an extended period of time was a bonus! These clever kits from Text Cool and Knit’s Cool would make fabulous gifts and activities to fill an afternoon at home or to bring along to Grandma’s house; because there is no mess involved and everything is conveniently stored in the box, they’re ideal for travel, too!
