My sister-in-law is due to deliver her second daughter in late May. I am incredibly fortunate to have a very close relationship with her, my brother and their first daughter. They live just a couple of hours away and we spend quite a bit of time together with our families. That’s why, when I became co-host for her baby shower, I knew exactly what kind of gift I wanted to give her.
You see, we live in Florida, and I think some of the best memories our families have shared so far is being together for my niece’s very first trip to Disney World. My kids had already been several times, but getting to experience it with her was like being there for the first time. She was so excited and my kids loved having the chance to share all their favorite parts of Disney World with her. It really was a fun-filled long weekend, with all the magic that Disney World is famous for delivering.
Our trip to Disney World will always mean so much to all of us and that is why I knew a Disney themed gift would be perfect for her baby shower. As I began my search for items, I discovered Walmart carries a whole line of Disney Baby merchandise that is precious and affordable.
I started by picking out a diaper bag. I chose the Mickey rather than the Minnie version. It seemed a more practical choice, because I knew it was going to appeal to her tastes, but that it would also work for my brother as it didn’t look too girlie.
My plan was to use the diaper bag as a basket to hold a whole collection of new baby items. I just had to decide what all the little goodies to go inside would be. I found the diaper bag in the baby department of Walmart and went on to discover quite a few other Disney Baby baby essentials in the same area. There were bibs, socks, nail trimmers, a hairbrush set or a full grooming kit as well as adhesive dining mats for eating out with baby. There are also many other selections online like baby teethers, bedding, and blankets.
Then I headed over to the toy department and found a large selection of great first toys for baby. My daughter helped me make our selections and her favorite was the little Disney Baby Pop Up toy. She is six, but she was dying to open it and play with it.
Once you’ve chosen a good selection of items to go into your diaper bag, you can pull them together in lots of creative and eye catching ways. We added some cute ribbon and played with two different presentations. At first, we bundled them all together in a complementary way. However, in the end, I preferred having each item separate, but with the ribbon for a fun flourish. How cute are those little socks? I can’t believe that my children’s feet were EVER that small!
Finally, we assembled all the items in the diaper bag for the final step in our themed baby shower gift. It really came together well and was a big hit with both the mother and father to be. Oh, and yes, the minute it was opened my daughter and my niece scooped up the little pop up toy and played with it for almost an hour!
Now that you’ve seen the items I chose for my Disney Baby Shower Gift, I’d love to know what items you might choose? Or which of these items is YOUR Favorite?
