“Catching” Snowflakes and Snowball Fights
It’s time for some fun Frozen Summer snow games, gather up all your little trolls and get ready to burn some of that never ending energy! We decided to venture outside into Olaf’s beloved sunshine to “catch” snowflakes and have a Summer snowball fight. I can hear you all now “Those crazy gals, they live in Florida, they don’t even have SNOW in the winter, let alone the Summer!” Well, hang with us and we’ll show you how we brought winter to life in outdoor summer temps.
For round 1, we took water balloons and filled them with shaving cream (both from the Dollar Store) instead of water. We simply pinched the balloons around the shaving cream nozzle and squirted the shaving cream inside. You can use regular balloons, but the water balloons worked far better because we filled them almost to the breaking point so that once they threw them at each other, they actually popped open easily.
Once we had filled a few buckets full of our colorful snowballs, we had everyone don goggles, masks, or sunglasses for eye protection.
Then we just let our gang go crazy! They had a fabulous time bombing one another with snowballs and covering the yard with snow (AKA Shaving cream)!
After warming up and rinsing the snow off, we had a friendly snowflake “catching” contest!
We made our snowflakes by cutting 4 standard sponges into thirds, arranging the pieces into a snowflake shape, and securing the middle with a ponytail holder or rubber band, twisting around 2-3 times. (All supplies came from the Dollar Store!)

Game 1: We placed hula hoops on the ground and assigned a point value to each one. Then the kiddos took turns tossing the sponge snowflakes and adding up their points, great way to sneak in a little math practice, too!
Game 2: If you are on a flat surface, stand two children at a good throwing distance away from each other. Place an empty beach pail in front of each them and then give each an equal number of snowflakes. Have them take turns trying to toss their snowflakes into each others buckets. The one with the most in the bucket wins.
Game 3: Divide into teams, place 2 pails at one end of the yard, gather the kiddos at the other end to soak the snowflakes in water, have the 2 teams “race” one another to each team’s empty bucket and squeeze the water from the sponges. Whatever team overflows their pail with water first are the winners!
Just be warned, this is what happened in the midst of game three – FREE FOR ALL “Snowflake” Battle.
As you can see, we had so much fun with our “Snowflake” Catch and Snowball Fights in Summer. These Frozen games are sure to keep Olaf and your kiddos cool all Summer long!!
